Privacy Policy

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]Applies to the homwarden app for iPhone and homwarden.com

Draft — not yet in effect. This policy is a working draft. Every bracketed value must be resolved and the full text reviewed by qualified counsel before publication. Children’s-privacy, international-transfer, and U.S. state privacy-rights language must be confirmed against the final legal entity, target market, and production infrastructure.

homwarden exists to keep your home’s records private, organized, and under your control. This policy explains what information homwarden handles, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your data, and the current launch configuration uses no cross-app advertising or tracking.

Information homwarden may collect

Most information in homwarden is information you choose to add. Depending on which features you use, this may include:

  • Account basics. Your account email address and an internal user identifier.
  • Home address components. The address details you enter for your home.
  • Coordinates. Approximate or precise coordinates, only when you enable location-based features.
  • Equipment details. Appliance and home-system details, model numbers, serial numbers, filter dimensions, installation dates, and your notes.
  • Care activity. Maintenance tasks, completions, schedules, conditions, and other home activity you record.
  • Documents and photos. Photos, receipts, warranties, manuals, inspection reports, invoices, and other documents you upload.
  • Extraction results. OCR text and the extraction results you confirm from scanned labels and documents.
  • Contractor details. Contractor contact information and private notes you keep about service providers.
  • Projects and finances. Projects, inventory, costs, budgets, and financial estimates you enter.
  • Assistant conversations. Home Assistant conversations and the feedback you provide on responses.
  • Notifications. Your push-notification device token and notification preferences.
  • Sharing and security. Sharing, export, security, and access-log information.
  • Support. Communications you send to our support team.

How that information is used

  • Authenticating your account and keeping it secure.
  • Privately storing and synchronizing your home records across your devices.
  • Personalizing maintenance and weather guidance for your home and region.
  • Analyzing documents and performing OCR when you request it.
  • Generating home-specific assistant responses grounded in your records.
  • Delivering the notifications you ask for.
  • Producing exports and carrying out sharing you explicitly authorize.
  • Security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.

You control whether optional AI, location, notification, sharing, and document features are used at all. AI output may be incomplete or imperfect and always requires your review before it becomes part of your home record.

Service providers

homwarden relies on a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf to run the service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, private file storage, and Edge Functions.
  • OpenAI — optional server-side AI document analysis and grounded assistant features, only when you use those features.
  • Apple — push-notification delivery (APNs) and iOS platform services.
  • NOAA / National Weather Service — U.S. weather forecasts and alerts. Coordinates may be used to resolve forecasts; street-address text is not sent to NOAA/NWS.

Additional providers will be listed here only if and when they are actually used.

What we don’t do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • No cross-app advertising or tracking is used in the current launch configuration.
  • Your private documents are not public. Document links are signed and short-lived.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including private storage with access controls and short-lived signed links for documents. No system can promise absolute security, and no one should ever ask you for your password.

Retention

We keep information for as long as your account and the service reasonably need it, subject to disclosed backup expiration, legal requirements, and your deletion requests. Backups expire on a rolling schedule of [BACKUP_RETENTION_DAYS_REQUIRED] days. We do not state retention periods here that have not been verified against the production system.

Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal information. Account deletion removes your account and associated personal data — not merely deactivation — except for narrowly defined information we are legally required to retain. See Privacy Choices and Account Deletion for step-by-step instructions.

Children

homwarden is intended for adults managing a home and is not directed to children. [Children’s-privacy language must be reviewed by counsel for the actual target market and governing law before publication.]

International transfers and U.S. state rights

[International-transfer and U.S. state privacy-rights disclosures must be completed to match the final legal entity and production infrastructure before publication.]

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and describe the change in the app or on this page before it takes effect.
